Question Description
I’m working on a philosophy writing question and need a sample draft to help me understand better.
In a 3-5 page paper (750-1250 words), address ONE of the following topics prompts:
- Critics of compatibilist freedom say that merely being able to act according to your desires without constraints is not real freedom if your desires are determined for you in the first place. Do you agree with this criticism? Explain
- In the closing arguments of the famous Leopold and Loeb case, Clarence Darrow suggests that his clients should not be held responsible for their actions. On the contrary, he argues, If there is responsibility anywhere, it is back of [them]; somewhere in the infinite number of [their] ancestors, or in [their] surroundings, or in both. Discuss arguments in favor of Darrows conclusion as well as against it, and develop your own position on the issue. Your paper should address the following question.
- Why cant the principle of induction be justified empirically or a priori? If the principle of induction cannot be proven, does that mean we cant trust the findings of science? Why or why not?
