Assignment 4: Policy Issue/Action PowerPoint Presentation (15 points)
Students will utilize Assignment 3 and develop a PowerPoint (PPT) and Kaltura presentation on the selected policy/issue. The Kaltura presentation is a method to get the issue/action message across to those who make the decisions.
Assignment Criteria:
Develop a PowerPoint presentation that includes the following criteria:
1. Provide overview of bill: Number, title, primary sponsor(s).
2. Brief background information related to the issue or problem.
3. Discuss key regulatory and legislative history.
4. Identify all direct and indirect stakeholders and their position on the area(s) of concern.
5. Evaluate how the issues will affect stakeholders at an institutional, local, state, and federal level.
6. Identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) to the bill.
7. Explain how issues in the bill will affect stakeholders at an institutional, local, state, and/or federal level.
8. Describe the role of the nurse leader as a change agent in policymaking.
9. Provide two reasons why the masters prepared nurse would lobby to support this bill.
10. Develop a recorded PPT presentation using Kaltura Capture in the form of a scholarly presentation. Follow the instructions for using Kaltura located in the Canvas Moduleslocated in the ACON Student Resources. Click on Kaltura Resources tab.
11. After developing the PPT, utilize Kaltura Capture to present the PPT with voice over (use screen and audio).
12. The PPT presentation should not be more than 14 slides (excluding the title slide and reference slide) and no longer than eight (8) minutes in length. Be complete and concise. Use bulleted statements not complete sentences or paragraphs.
13. Use APA format for PPT, which always includes a title slide, a reference slide, and APA requirements. Resources found in ACON Student Resources in Canvas Modules. Click onPowerPoint Resources tab.
14. A minimum three references required for this assignment. References should be from scholarly peer-reviewed journals (check Ulrich’s Periodical Directory) and be less than five (5) years old.
15. Post the Kaltura presentation to the Discussion Board by Monday of Week 8.
16. Critique and comment to one classmate by Friday, responses may be on the same day, no references required. Students may use the record/upload in Canvas for the response.
17. Submit the PPT and the Kaltura presentation by the posted due date. Note: These are two separate submissions.
